Biography

Simon was born in Vlotho, Germany where from an early age he fostered his love for church music and JS Bach in particular. He played the organ in local churches and went on to study singing at the Hochschule für Musik, Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden, and later on at the Guildhall School of Music in London. He has always been interested in choral conducting and teaching singing.

In 2007 he was appointed as Head of Vocal teaching at BYMT and since 2014 is part of the Senior Leadership Team. At BYMT, Simon has enjoyed many conducting opportunities including Arthur Honegger’s King David, Carl Orff’s Carina Burana, Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bach’s Matthew Passion as well as Sondheim’s Sweeny Todd.​
