This late choral masterpiece, written when the composer was at the height of his compositional skill, has all the hallmarks of the Haydn’s characteristic vitality and creativity. Full of adventurous harmony and orchestral colour this three-part dramatic oratorio bursts with joyous music.
Parts One and Two explore the first six days of Creation, with Part Three reserved wholly for the earthly paradise of Adam and Eve. With lively arias and rousing choruses The Creation is by turns radiant and boisterous, melodically inventive and classically elegant. It is truly a spiritual masterpiece for our more secular age.
