Madelaine Jones – piano

We regret that the previously advertised recital ‘By London’s River’ has had to be postponed due to illness. We hope to reschedule it either for later this year or in 2017.

Madelaine’s recital will include:-

Chopin Scherzo No. 2 in B flat minor, Op 51

Beethoven Pathetique Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13

Entry to this event is FREE, tea and coffee will be available before the recital and there will be a retiring collection in aid of Arts at St. George’s Funds.

Madelaine Jones

Madelaine Jones is a prize-winning pianist and composer, and a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she studied piano, improvisation & composition and harpsichord with Penelope Roskell, Douglas Finch and James Johnstone respectively. During her time at Trinity Laban, she was the winner of various prizes and competitions, including the John Halford Piano Competition for Contemporary Music and the Gladys Puttick Extemporisation Competition (along with duo partner, dancer Adam Russell). Upon graduation, she was awarded the TCM Trust Silver Medal for Keyboard Studies, and the Nancy Thomas Prize for the highest achieving undergraduate pianist. She is currently studying privately with Niel Immelman, and has been awarded a place to continue her studies with him at the Royal College of Music next year.

Madelaine is also a keen composer – recent composition commissions include creating the music for a large-scale dance projects based in Carlisle and Newcastle – and has a passion for ensemble playing, fuelled by her work alongside local choirs during her teenage years. Her chamber music experience has included working alongside the BBC Singers, and the Trinity Laban Early Music Ensemble, and she has played continuo in the Greenwich International Early Music Festival. She has also performed extensively across the UK as a founding member of the Bishop Ensemble, and with Monteverdi Choir soprano Angela Hicks.
