St. George’s hosts a visiting Danish chamber choir, Brahetrollborgkoret, with organist Tina Christiansen, under their conductor Kirsten Møller Jensen.
The choir, of 21 voices, was founded in 1961, and consists of singers from the southern part of Funen, the island in the middle of Denmark.
They will be performing a programme of choral music by, among others:-
Thomas Tallis, Herbert Howells, Charles Villiers Stanford, Gabriel Fauré and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.
Danish music will be represented by Mendelssohn’s friend and successor in Leipzig, Niels W. Gade and Denmark’s greatest composer, Carl Nielsen.
Pieces for organ will be played by Tina Christiansen.
