Biography

Dr Edwin Hillier is Musical Director of Bromley Youth Choir. He grew up singing in church and school choirs before studying Music at the University of Cambridge, where he was a choral scholar. He later completed postgraduate and doctoral studies at the Royal College of Music and now teaches there as Professor of Composition.

Alongside his work as a composer and educator, Edwin has worked extensively as a professional baritone, conductor and choral director. He has led choirs in churches, schools and community settings across the UK and is currently Director of Music at St Mary, Newington (in Kennington), where he conducts a professional choir, and has founded a chorister scheme for primary-age children.

He has greatly enjoyed working with the talented singers of Bromley Youth Choir during his first year at BYMT!
