Bryony Mycroft

Mezzo Soprano Bryony Mycroft began her musical education with Bromley Youth Music Trust as a violinist, studying originally with Nicholas Woodall and then with Jonathan Josephs when she transferred to viola. During her time at BYMT, she was a keen member of both Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, and also performed in vocal masterclasses led by Mary King. Following her further education at the Royal College of Music she studied viola with Jonathan Barritt and voice with Kathleen Livingstone, Paul Spicer and Terry Edwards. Since leaving the RCM in 2010 Bryony has developed a successful career as a freelance viola player, performing regularly with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Glyndebourne Opera, and in Hamilton at Victoria Palace Theatre, London. In 2006, Bryony made her singing debut as alto soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the Whitehall Singers. Since then, highlights have included Bach’s St.Matthew Passion at St. Clement- Danes, The Strand; Handel’s Messiah with the Forest Row Choral Society and Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man at the Shoreham Festival. Having stepped back from singing in recent years to embrace family life with her young son Gabriel, she is delighted to be performing one of her favourite pieces tonight with an ensemble and venue close to her heart.
