Barber, Bilk, Ball and Beyond is a self contained live show featuring the very musicians who played with these famous bands! Recreating the superb sounds of the 3Bs and music that swept the world with it’s vitality and energy, and stole the hearts of a generation!

Refreshments

There will be a Cash Only licensed bar or bars for this event (no spirits or shots) under the auspices of a TEN licence from Bromley Council. Refreshments may be purchased before and during the performance and during the interval. The usual alcohol licensing law applies including as to age and serving etc. We reserve the right to refuse to sell, serve or otherwise supply alcohol to any person for whatever reason and more specifically we reserve the right to request satisfactory proof of age before selling, serving or supplying alcohol to any person. Audience members are not permitted to:-
  • Bring alcohol into the buildings.

The Magnificent Seven Jazz Band

Calling on their experience of performing with Europe’s most influential jazz bands of the last sixty years, the MAGNIFICENT 7 Jazz Band combines a wealth of experience with youthful exuberance.

Paying homage to the great jazz masters of the early jazz period as well as keeping alive the sounds of the swing era, the band’s repertoire also celebrates the jazz revival of the 1950’s, tipping their hat to the great bands of Chris Barber, Kenny Ball, Aker Bilk and Alex Welsh.

This band takes no prisoners!

It plays a varied repertoire, with compositions and arrangements by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Louis Prima, Errol Garner, Fats Waller, Chucho Valdez, Paquito D’Rivera and many more.

Amy Roberts

Clarinet, flute and saxophones

From the ranks of The Big Chris Barber Band, Amy has been a popular attraction at jazz clubs and festivals throughout the UK, and has twice won the Rising Star category in the British Jazz Awards.

Richard Exall

Clarinet, saxophones and vocals

A 10 year veteran of The Big Chris Barber Band, Richard is the main arranger for the Magnificent 7 and has experience working in most genres of the jazz world, from vintage jazz, modern jazz and big bands through to Afro-Cuban and rock bands.

Ian Bateman

Trombone

Ian is one of the most in-demand jazz trombonists in Europe. Ian has spent most of his career playing in the top jazz groups and big bands produced in the UK from the late 1970’s to the present day. He was been a member of the Acker Bilk Band from the 1990s.

Ben Cummings

Trumpet and vocals

Ben was Kenny Ball’s trumpet player of choice, having played and recorded at the highest level in almost every genre from New Orleans, vintage, swing and modern jazz, to funk, soul, pop and salsa.

Nick Millward

Drums and vocals

Nick has been a member of the Kenny Ball Band for many years, and has toured with the Pete Allen Jazz Band. He was later with Terry Lightfoot, then the First Class Sounds band featuring Digby Fairweather.

Bill Coleman

Bass

Bill is one of the bass players of choice for many visiting American artists, and was Helen Shapiro’s bass player before joining the Kenny Ball Band.

Craig Milverton

Piano

Voted Jazz Pianist of the Year 2010 at the British Jazz Awards, Craig plays with a whose who of British and International jazz talent including Digby Fairweather, Paul Jones and Scott Hamilton.
